To WoW or not to WoW?...

Last week, Blizzard Entertainment's vice president of development Itzik Ben Bassat made the most radical of statements: he announced that new installments are on the way from two of his storied series companies:" We'd like to say to our fans of Diablo and Starcraft that we haven't forgotten we have these franchises." We cannot wait to be here in a few years, or however long it will be. It won't be a decade, and we'll be celebrating the launch of the next Starcraft together."

Of course that these words gave birth to a lot of speculations and rumors as some thought Bassat meant that a new StarCraft (1998 similar version) game is one of the new titles and others understood that 2017 is the year to be waited.

Although Bassat gave something of a little clue towards the nature of the new titles, many have speculated that Blizzard is in the works of a Starcraft multiplayer online role-playing game. He also told British film magazine Empire: "When we announce our next MMORPG it's not going to be another WoW--we're not a company that tends to tread the same ground." It'll be something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level."

Bassat's commenting on the matter revealed Blizzard's intentions of making the next MMO completely different, "not just a clone" of the title recently released title, said GameSpot.

Concerning the WoW upcoming film, Bassat made a pretty satisfying comment (not as concise and formal as most spokesmen prefer), saying it is a different matter all together and assured of it going according to schedule: "Hollywood has its own pace but we're working as hard as we can to push it forwards," Bringing Warcraft to the movies is the next step for us, we want to let people bring World of Warcraft into other aspects of their lives. After all, we're competing for people's entertainment time, whether it's listening to music, watching TV, or going to the cinema."
