The company isn't taking advantage of the fans

Blizzard is a very popular company, largely due to the fact that it has always delivered great games to its loyal fans. Titles that made history, like Starcraft, Diablo or World of Warcraft offered players excellent experiences and they are still played today, because the company invested in the Battle.Net online system that offered a great multiplayer mode in these games.

Seeing as how the company has such loyal fans, a lot of people said that it might start to get greedy and begin to deliver games that weren't so well done, or that were priced too high, just to make a quick profit. Such was the case with the latest announcement made by Blizzard at its own fan convention, BlizzCon, regarding the Starcraft II game, which would be split into three volumes, following the actions of each faction of the title, the Terrans, the Zerg and the Protoss.

Such a decision was met with hostility by industry analysts, who said that Blizzard was just looking to squeeze every last penny from the future game. But, although Chris Sigaty, the lead producer of StarCraft II, said that the decision was made so as to deliver the game earlier to the fans, speculations still remained. This is why Paul Sams, the COO of Blizzard, has recently backed up Sigaty's statement in regard to the title.

"The fact of the matter is, it's absolutely, positively untrue about us trying to stretch it out and milk it. People think that it was a monetary driven decision. I can absolutely, positively tell you, with 100 per cent certainty, that that was not part of the conversation. I guarantee it. I give my word. There was never, ever a conversation where we said, 'let's do this because we're going to make more money'. I guarantee it. As a matter of fact the sole reason we did it was because we thought it was going to be a better experience. Anybody that says otherwise is not correct. It is absolutely not what we did it for."

Quite an interesting statement, which is sure to get Blizzard fans to relax and look forward to the great experience that is set to start with the first volume in the trilogy, Terrans: Wings of Liberty, slated for a 2009 launch.
