Starting today, mobile phone users in Australia can purchase the BlackBerry Z30 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier Optus, albeit only business customers for the time being.

However, the device is also up for pre-order at Harvey Norman, where it will arrive on November 1, and is set to be released on Telstra on October 29. The new smartphone will be available through authorized resellers as well.

BlackBerry Z30 went official last month as the largest smartphone from the Canadian handset vendor, packing a 5-inch touchscreen display and running under BlackBerry OS 10.2.

“It is designed to keep you hyper connected, productive and always in control, and lets you share like you’re there and collaborate with ease,” BlackBerry notes.

The handset also features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor inside, as well as 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also packs a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with HD video recording capabilities. Furthermore, it sports a front camera for making video calls.

BlackBerry Z30 is powered by a 2880 mAh battery, which should deliver up to 25 hours of mixed use. The smartphone comes with the usual set of connectivity capabilities packed inside, as well as with Stereo Audio and BlackBerry Natural Sound and new Antenna Technology.

According to BlackBerry, the smartphone will also be accompanied by a variety of accessories, such as cases, carrying solutions, chargers, and audio peripherals.

The BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2 loaded on top of the device also has appealing features to offer:

- BlackBerry Priority Hub – The new BlackBerry Priority Hub gives you instant access to the conversations and content most important to you to help you stay organized and focused on the most important tasks.

- BBM Now in Any App and Message Previews Everywhere – You can now get a preview of any message as it arrives in whatever app you’re in, and immediately dismiss it or tap it to read the full content and respond. If a BBM message arrives, you can instantly reply to the message without even leaving the app you’re in.

BlackBerry Z30 will arrive in Australia with a manufacturers’ suggested retail price (MSRP) of AUD $749 (€529), but is also set to be launched at carriers on various monthly deals.
