uLocate Communications announced recently that its award-winning location-based software solution WEHRE was launched for the newly released BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone from the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion. The Tour is added this way to the range of other BlackBerry handsets that feature the application, the company said.

It's a common fact that WHERE is one of the highly popular local apps for mobile phones. The software has been designed to offer users the possibility to easily find what they are looking for around them, be it people, places and things, all coming at their fingertips in a simple manner. What the application delivers to mobile phone users includes weather, news, and restaurant reviews, the cheapest gas, as well as movie show times.

At the same time, WHERE will deliver other local content too, along with the possibility to connect with other users on the WHERE Wall. Also worth mentioning is the fact that it comes with an enhanced user interface, as well as with new features such as the addition of a Sports Wall and better speed and accuracy with location fix by both cell ID and GPS.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our product offering to BlackBerry users on the Verizon and Sprint networks with the launch of WHERE for the BlackBerry Tour.” said Walt Doyle, CEO of WHERE. “Given the popularity of WHERE on other smartphones such as the BlackBerry Storm, we feel confident that this new version will meet with great success.”

As mentioned above, the new BlackBerry Tour is only one handset from RIM that WHERE is available on. The series also includes BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphones. The software solution is available for download at the BlackBerry App World, but it can also be found on the WHERE Website, via this link, directly from the handset's browser.
