The BlackBerry Torch 9860 4G is the latest smartphone running under the new BlackBerry 7 OS from Research In Motion to have made an appearance on shelves at Canadian wireless carrier Bell.

The mobile phone, a touch-enabled device, is available now from the wireless carrier on various contract options, with price tags that start at $129.95.

For this price, users will need to commit to a three-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier, but they are also offered the possibility to opt for other contract terms.

For example, the BlackBerry Torch 9860 is available for $549.95 on a two-year term, and goes for $574.95 on on-year deals. Those who would like to purchase the smartphone but do not wish to sign a service agreement will have to pay $599.95 for it.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9860 landed at Bell with support for the wireless carrier's 4G (HSPA ) network, and can deliver download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, in addition to offering support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.

The same as the latest high-end smartphones from RIM, the new Torch packs a 1.2GHz application processor, along with microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

It also features the largest touchscreen display that any other BlackBerry device sports, at 3.7-inch. It also sports 768 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory.

On the back, the new device sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with support for 720p HD video recording.

The mobile phone measures 120 x 62 x 11.5 mm and weighs in at 135 grams. It sports a 1230 mAh battery inside, capable of delivering up to 6.8 hours of talk time, or up to 13.5 days of standby time.
