Research in Motion has just updated its BlackBerry Messenger application with several new improvements and bug fixes.

It appears that RIM rolled out two updates for the application that increase BBM's functionality and corrects an file sending-related bug.

The first update offers users the possibility to search BBM-connected devices directly from the BlackBerry Messenger.

In addition, BBM users can now share content with other BBM contacts, but they can also invite BBM 5.0 users to use connected apps.

The second update simply addresses the file transfer/picture sending bug, which was highlighted recently by several users.

It is recommended to back up the contact list before downloading the latest version of BBM. This can be easily done by going to menu within BlackBerry Messenger / Options / Back Up.

The latest BlackBerry Messenger 6.0.1.32 is now available as a free download from BlackBerry App World.
