According to the latest news on the Web, wireless carrier AT&T is set to release the full-QWERTY BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone as soon as tomorrow, Friday, May 22. The new mobile phone will come to the operator's lineup as a replacement of the older Blackberry Curve 83xx-series devices, which have been with the company for around two years already.

In addition to announcing the immediate availability of the device, AT&T is also reported to have mentioned the price tag for the handset, which has been set at $199 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement. The new BlackBerry Curve 8900 is expected to be a great upgrade to the company's lineup, especially since it will come with improvements over the already appreciated Blackberry Curve 83xx series.

The handset comes to AT&T's users with a high-resolution display (480 x 360 pixels), a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper that includes auto focus and image stabilization, Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS receiver (with support for location-based applications and services, such as AT&T Navigator), a microSD/SDHC memory card slot for additional storage space of up to 16GB per card, support for quad-band EDGE (850/900/1700/ 1800Mhz) frequencies, as well as with a removable battery that can offer up to 5.5 hours of talk time or up to 15 days of standby time.

“This new smartphone has a stunning design that builds upon the success of the BlackBerry Curve with more features for applications, all in a high-quality handset,” said Chris Hill, vice president, AT&T Business Solutions, when the company announced the availability of the handset. “Add to it free access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network and the BlackBerry Curve 8900 from AT&T delivers unmatched value and performance for personal and business use.”

According to the company, users who will purchase the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be able to enjoy a richer experience while surfing the Internet and accessing their social networking sites, courtesy of its wireless and Wi-Fi networks (including free AT&T Wi-Fi access at nearly 20,000 hotspots in the U.S.). In addition, they will also be able to enjoy the handset's multimedia capabilities, as well as its leading email and messaging features.
