Vodafone Italia and Research In Motion announced that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone is also offered for the carrier's Italian users. The handset has been made available in Italy via Vodafone's retail stores, as well as on the operator's website, at a price tag of €429. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a fast 512MHz processor, Wi-Fi and GPS, and an impressive high resolution display.

The handset is able to offer users complete phone, email, messaging, organizer and web browser functionality, as well as multimedia applications, so that they would be able listen to music, watch video files, or access maps while on the go. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a full-QWERTY keyboard complemented by an intuitive trackball navigation system.

The phone's multimedia player also includes media streaming. A microSD/SDHC expandable memory card slot that supports up to 16GB of removable storage allows users to carry with them a lot of audio and video files for entertainment. In addition, a 3.2 megapixel camera, that sports auto focus, flash and digital zoom, can be used to take sharp pictures that could be shared with friends on the Internet.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a 2.4 inch HVGA+ display, which can deliver a 480×360 pixel resolution, while rendering images in vivid colors. The handset includes built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) for flexible connectivity, as well as GPS capabilities so that users can move easily in unknown places. The phone measures 109 x 60 x 13.5 millimeters and weighs only 110 grams.

Vodafone Italia customers that acquire a BlackBerry Curve 8900 also need to take out a Vodafone Pack for BlackBerry data plan meant to offer them the BlackBerry Internet Service with access to the Internet, email and Instant Messaging (IM), as well as a wide range of other mobile applications. The Vodafone Pack for BlackBerry would cost 10€ per month for post-paid customers and 3€ per week for pre-paid customers.

Business customers can get the smartphone for free upon inking a two-year contract on a 19€ per month data plan that would include connection to the BlackBerry Internet Service. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 can also be purchased with a Vodafone Mio Business Tutto data plan for an additional 7€ fee. The handset is a quad-band device and is supported on both the BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
