A new BlackBerry smartphone from Research In Motion is expected to soon make an appearance on two CDMA carriers in the United States, namely Sprint and Verizon Wireless, namely the BlackBerry 9670.

The clamshell device was previously spotted into the wild as being headed for Verizon, but it seems that it won't be exclusively available via this carrier, and that Sprint would also receive it.

When it first emerged into the wild a while ago, the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell was said to be a Big Red exclusive, but it seems that RIM decided to make it available via mode wireless carriers in the United States.

For what it's worth, it does not come as a surprise that RIM plans on acting this way, especially since Verizon and Sprint both offer almost the same wide range of BlackBerry devices, with a few exceptions. The BlackBerry 9670 was spotted with Sprint's logo all over it, as one ca see in the photo attached to this article, courtesy of BGR, and is rumored to be headed to the carrier's lineup in a matter of months.

Moreover, the post on BGR notes that multiple sources announced that they already have Sprint-branded BlackBerry 9670 units, something suggesting that the actual release might not be too far away in the end.

Of course, there are still a wide range of other pieces of info on BlackBerry 9670 that are not known at the moment, and this applies both to the Sprint-branded device, as well as to the Verizon-bound one, including the specifications list of the phone, and the like.

One can only hope that RIM packed it with appealing features, so as to make it a little more appealing than the recently launched Torch 9800 proved to be during its first days of availability.

No info on when the clamshell might land on the market emerged either, nor on its price tag. Hopefully, it won't be too long before RIM makes it all official, so stay tuned for more info on this.
