Nintendo has just posted the financial figures for Black Friday, confirming that it registered record sales across the board, from its platforms like the 3DS or Wii, to games like Super Mario 3D Land or The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Black Friday was celebrated with a huge array of discounts on many games for plenty of platforms and, even if there were some unfortunate incidents, sales figures reached record breaking amounts.

Nintendo has confirmed this by revealing its first figures from Black Friday, saying that most of its products, from the 3DS or Wii consoles to the Mario or Zelda games, were able to sell more than 500,000 units in just one single day.

"What this has been able to do is drive our Nintendo 3DS business in only eight months to surpass the full first year volume of the original DS and we still have the bulk of the holiday to go," said Fils-Aime to USA Today, "and we still have the launch of Mario Kart 7 to continue driving our full-year sales."

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the latest installment in the prestigious series for the Wii, managed to sell over 535,000 units, while Super Mario 3D Land became the fastest selling portable Mario game in the history of the long running franchise.

The 3DS also experienced massive sales, registering an increase of a whopping 325 percent over the first week of November. The aging Wii, also manifested great sales, even if it’s soon going to be replaced by next year’s Wii U.

"We know that Black Friday and that entire week is a key selling week and it is important for products like ours to have a jump in momentum and we were fortunate to see that," Fils-Aime added. "For us, it really was driven by unique and powerful software and what gives us confidence is that we still have more software to launch in the balance of this holiday period."

It’s expected for other gaming companies to also post some impressive results after Black Friday, so look forward to more announcements.
