HP offers a very sleek, capable hybrid but with a premium price tag

Just yesterday, HP CEO Meg Whitman explained at an analyst conference that the company is relying on tablet/laptop hybrids to boost sales this holiday season.

Hybrids are devices that can be used as a tablet, but also as a laptop, offering customers versatility and the ability to employ the same product for both work and play. This is the case of the HP Split 2x (with Windows 8), but with a price tag set at $729.99 / €537, it’s hard to believe that costumers will fight over it.

Luckily enough, BestBuy comes to your aid just in time for Black Friday and applies a nice $230 / €169 discount to the convertible, making it a little more affordable. This way HP might actually have the chance to sell some devices.

The HP Split 2x comes in sporting a 13.3-inch HD LED backlit IPS touch-screen display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The company has slipped a 1.3GHz 4th- generation Intel Core i3-4010Y processor coupled with 4GB of RAM plus Intel HD Graphics 4400.

The convertible offers a spacious 128GB solid state drive for storing all you need. 50GB of lifetime Box Cloud storage is also provided. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microSD card and all the other standard functionalities are available with the product.
