After much debate, 2K Games, the publisher of BioShock 2, has just announced that it will be bringing the promised patch and downloadable content to the PC edition of the game, not just the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ones.

BioShock 2 PC owners were left disappointed a few weeks ago when the game's publisher, 2K Games, announced that the scheduled patch and the downloadable content that already appeared on the consoles, Protector Trials and Minerva's Den, won't be coming to their own platform.

All this content already appeared on consoles so, as you can imagine, lots of PC owners started complaining to 2K Games.

Now, it seems that the community feedback did make the company change its mind, as the community manager has just revealed on the 2K forums that development on the PC patch, as well as the two pieces of DLC has begun once more.

"I have some good news concerning the BioShock 2 PC patch as well as the development of Protector Trials and Minerva's Den for the PC. Not to keep you in suspense any longer, I'll sum it up with one sentence: We have resumed development on all three and they will be coming to PC."

According to the lengthy statement, it seems that the development on the PC patch hit a few big technical problems which couldn't have been fixed in an adequate amount of time, so the development was scrapped.

Similarly, the pieces of DLC also occupied precious time for the developers at 2K, so those plans were also axed after the content was released on consoles.

Fortunately for PC gamers, 2K listened to the community and has just restarted development for the PC platform, and will see the content released in the future.

More specifically, the patch and the Protector Trials DLC are in the final stages of development, and they will be sent to certification with Microsoft next week.

Expect them to arrive around the beginning of December for BioShock 2.

The Minerva's Den DLC however is still in the early stages of development, so don't expect until the end of December, at least.

Still, PC gamers should certainly be pleased, as all this content will be coming to them free of charge.
