In the latest issue of GQ magazine, Billy Ray Cyrus took a load off his chest and ranted against Disney, saying “Hannah Montana” ruined his life and his family. As it turns out, he’s just jealous that Miley is so successful, it has emerged.

Ever since the aforementioned interview came out, speculation has been running rampant on what could have prompted Billy Ray to bite the hand that had fed him for so long.

Moreover, people have been wondering what could have made him turn on his own daughter, saying in a media interview that she was a “trainwreck” comparable to Anna Nicole Smith or Kurt Cobain.

Us Weekly, for instance, believes it was jealousy (story via here). As harsh as this may sound, Billy Ray is upset that Miley is getting more media attention than he does and this is why he decided to do his best to sabotage her, claims the mag.

What’s even worse, for all his claims that Disney alienated him from his daughter, it was him who actually pushed her towards this career in the spotlight.

“He totally pushed Miley into being a star!” says an unnamed Disney source, as cited by Us Weekly.

“He was always upset he didn’t get as much attention as Miley. This is his way of stealing the spotlight,” another spy adds.

In other words, by doing the explosive interview with GQ, Billy Ray is trying to bring attention onto himself, even if that means speaking against his own daughter and Disney, which has helped them both become this famous.

“And yet other insiders claim that Billy Ray is just lashing out because he and Miley were already on the outs,” Us writes. So, he’s probably seeking revenge.

“Billy Ray already had a huge fight with Miley over her behavior. She won’t talk to him anymore, so he sees no problem voicing his opinion to whomever will listen,” a third tipster explains.

“Before Miley turned 18, Billy did little to rein in Miley, and according to one source, he even used to tip off the paparazzi about Miley’s whereabouts to ensure she’d get photographed,” the magazine says.

Since the interview came out, Billy Ray has apologized for it being so “explosive,” saying it came out unintentionally so and stressing that, for the time being, his main concern was his family.

Miley has yet to comment in any way her father’s “betrayal” but she’s reportedly furious with him.
