14 DAY TRIAL // In what can only be described as the most insane piece of celebrity news today, video has emerged of a furious Solange Knowles physically attacking (punching and kicking) rapper Jay Z, while her sister and his wife, Beyonce, looks on. To make matters even more intriguing, after the incident, she posted a cryptic message to her Instagram.
But first off, let’s recap: after the MET Gala 2014, which took place last Monday in New York City and which all three attended, they were riding the elevator to go home. The video that emerged – and has already gone viral – is from the surveillance camera, and is also included at the bottom of this article.
Being from a surveillance camera, it has no audio; but it clearly shows a furious Solange launching at Jay, punching him, throwing her purse at him, and then kicking him as his bodyguard is trying to pull her away. She points her finger at him and you can see she’s yelling.
Meanwhile, Jay is trying to keep calm and, at the same time, defend himself. Beyonce impassibly looks on and only towards the end of the video intervenes by positioning herself between the two. At the very end of the video, she is seen talking to Jay, calming him down after another round of punches and kicks from Solange.
After this very violent episode, they walked out of the elevator together. The photo above was snapped just as the doors opened and they made their way to the waiting cars: an apparently confused Jay got into one, a furious Solange got into another, while Beyonce stopped to wave and pose for pictures before getting into the same car as Jay.
Sometime after, while at home, she posted to her Instagram a photo of a quote which, in light of what had happened that night, could be interpreted as saying that she’s pulling away from Solange.
“Lord, I lift up every one of my relationships to You and ask You to bless them. I pray that each one would be glorifying to You. Help me to choose my friends wisely so I won’t be led astray. Give me my discernment and strength to separate myself from anyone who is not a good influence. I release all my relationships to You and pray that Your will be done in each one of them,” the quote reads.
Considering the way her sister attacked her husband with such violence just hours before, not few are those saying she’s thinking of Solange when asking for God’s help to rid herself of toxic influences. This theory holds water especially if you consider the rumors that Solange has always had a very wild side about her and that such violent fits are not uncommon with her.
