The Olympic Games are brought to your home

With the Olympic Games coming, there is no surprise for anyone that we are bombarded with athletics simulations and that's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the titles put quality first and hype second (I am obviously talking about the hype surrounding this year's Olympic games in Beijing). One of the titles that promise to put quality first is Eidos' Summer Athletics, a game that's going to be released this August.

One of its most important plans is to bring a realistic and not cartoonish simulation to Nintendo Wii consoles - it will actually be the first ever game to do that (yes, the Wii is that special!). However, the true next-gen fans will be excited to hear that the game will be released on Xbox 360 and PlaysStation 2 consoles, as well as PC systems - all on the 15th of August.

"We're really excited about the release of Summer Athletics, especially as it is the first realistic summer sports simulation for the Nintendo Wii and will tie in with the major sporting events occurring this summer," said Jon Brooke, Head of UK Marketing for Eidos. "It will provide hours of fun gaming for a wide audience and should really capture the mood of summer."

Summer Athletics features over 25 of the most popular sport disciplines, including sprinting, hurdles, cycling, archery, javelin, hammer throwing, swimming and diving. In other words, you'll have the Olympic Games brought to your house! And you'll get everything out of it, from single player to multiplayer modes, lifelike 3D graphics, character editor, realistic animations and flawless controls. Also, with two basic game options (arcade and career), you'll choose the degree of involvement in your brand new career as a record-breaking athlete. However, you won't do any of these sooner than the 15th of August.
