Also ready for Steam

It seems that the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is set to get a new patch. Those who have a non-Steam version of the game can now get the 522175 patch and Steam users will also get it automatically as soon as it clears the approval process for the digital distribution platform. Still, there are some players reporting that their game is not performing as expected, with some even saying the new patch has worsened the issues they were experiencing.

The main issues are linked to the multiplayer element of Battlefield 2: Bad Company. Server browsing seems to take quite a lot of time, especially when many games are on concomitantly. The time is even longer when players look for passworded servers.

There are also frequent messages that say a connection to the Electronic Arts server is impossible. Other players are reporting on the official forums that disconnects happen quite often, that stat data is not registered properly, and that crashes to desktop also sometimes end multiplayer matches early.

Karl Magnus Troedsson, who is an executive producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2, told IGN that “There's been so much interest in the multiplayer that even though we had the server capacity for it - the actual server slots so to say - we have had other systems in the background actually break down.”

Electronic Arts has also scheduled some server maintenance for today, probably in an effort to improve connectivity and capacity and ensure a smoother experience for players. The patch also lists several bug fixes and improvements linked to the multiplayer.

It's quite a shame to see Battlefield: Bad Company 2 hit by such problems, especially when the experience it uses is more complex and interesting than that offered by its main competitor, Modern Warfare 2 from Infinity Ward and Activision.
