Bad Company 2 is one of the games that he cannot bear to play

DICE is well known for making competent, when not brilliant, first person shooters but it seems that some important members of the development team cannot look at them without seeing their flaws.

Patrick Bach, who is an executive producer working at DICE, has stated, “We need to make sure people in this company to feel happy about closing this project and shipping the game. Many, including me, are feeling that if they only had one week more, we could have done so much more. People seem to focus on what they could have done, rather than on what we have already managed to achieve.”

The developer says that he feels ashamed about the games that he worked with, conscious of the fact that they are not as good as they could be.

It seems that Bach cannot even bring himself to launch Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the latest release from DICE, because he only sees the flaws of the experience and not the positive elements, which made the game a success.

He added that the team working on Battlefield 3 needs to hold back a little and make sure that they do not become too obsessed over small details, adding, “Everyone in the team has been sucked into the idea that this will be the ultimate game. And when you feel that you have to ship a tiny detail which isn’t perfect you feel extremely disappointed. But to be honest, when you look at the game it is pretty cool. You just have to step away from it.”

Battlefield 3 will be playable on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC and will be launched in late October.

Its main rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard, will be released on November 8 on the same platforms.
