The sequel to Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” believed to be called “Batman vs. Superman,” is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015 and to start production in early 2014. Turns out, Warner Bros. has been lying to us because the film starts shooting next month.

In a series of recent interviews, writer David Goyer let the cat out of the bag on the production schedule on the insanely anticipated project, Slash Film reports.

“One of the things that has been fun for us, is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize,” Goyer said.

A casting call sent out a short while ago indicated that shooting would start in October, so yes, “a bit further along” seems like an accurate statement.

Goyer also said that they had no plans of taking into account fans’ input in the development of the film which, on one side, makes perfect sense. On the other, it means you can stop sending petitions to the White House to uncast Ben Affleck as Batman.

“From a fan point of view, we’re conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like where does it end? You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it,” Goyer explains.

Point well made, sir.
