Even if we already knew about the existence of Batman: Arkham City before the start of the Spike TV Video Game Awards last weekend, the ceremony did air a special video for fans of the game, which revealed a brand new enemy that the famous comic book hero would have to fight: Doctor Hugo Strange.

Batman: Arkham City is set to continue the action of 2008's Batman: Arkham Asylum, and see the Caped Crusader fight against a whole district of dangerous criminals in order to protect Gotham City.

We already knew about some of the characters that will appear in the game, including the Joker, returning from Arkham Asylum, Two-Face and even Catwoman or Harley Quinn.

Now though, thanks to the trailer revealed during the VGAs, a brand new villain has joined the crew, Doctor Hugo Strange.

As you will see in the video below, Dr. Strange has one key advantage over the rest of the villains and over Batman himself, he knows that the hero's true identity is Bruce Wayne.

The character was already detailed in unlockable files from the first game, which unveiled a lot of interesting details about the doctor.

According to them, he was once a distinguished psychology professor, but was driven mad by the goal of unmasking Batman.

He now shifts in and out of consciousness, but knows that Bruce Wayne is actually The Dark Knight, so he can destroy the hero if anyone else finds out.

In Batman: Arkham City, Strange will be the actual head of the containment facility, put there by the mayor of Gotham.

As such, he will most likely act as the main villain, and set lots of traps and challenges for Batman, in order to capture him.

Batman: Arkham City is set to appear next fall for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
