Big words from the UK publisher

2008 was one of the biggest years in gaming as a lot of great titles appeared last year. 2009, however, is looking to be even better in terms of new titles, as well as highly anticipated sequels. We've already heard Activision brag about how Modern Warfare 2, the follow-up to one of biggest games of 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, would smash its opposition and become the best selling game in history, but it seems that Eidos begs to differ.

The UK publisher has started the hype campaign for its next title, Batman: Arkham Asylum, which it says will be one of the best selling titles of summer if not of the whole 2009 year. The statements, attributed to UK Marketing boss Jon Brooke, are very bold and it definitely seems that we are in for a great experience with this game.

“We expect Batman Arkham Asylum to not only be the biggest game of the summer but one of the stand-out games of the year,” said Brooke. It’s as close to perfect as we’ve ever come, it looks amazing, plays beautifully and has a rich twisting storyline with enormous replayability. I’m confident enough to say that it will set a new benchmark for licensed games and it’s going to establish itself as one of our best games ever.”

The game is set to receive a big marketing campaign, which, according to Brooke, will be the biggest of the year. “We have an extensive four-month advertising campaign beginning with teaser print and online advertising. This will be followed up with E3 online video activity and heavyweight online, TV and cinema launch support. It’s our biggest campaign of the year and we’re really set to make some noise.”

Batman: Arkham Asylum is developed by Rocksteady Studios and promises to deliver a dark and gritty experience to players, one that will highlight the detective skills of the Dark Knight as he inspects the infamous Arkham Asylum prison where some of his most diabolical Arch enemies are held.

Hopefully, these claims will be backed up by the game and we will have a very high-end experience (in terms of gaming) this year.
