Were you looking forward to seeing another one of those Chinese manufactured mobile phones with a borrowed design and included touchscreen?

This one, the Bai Zhao 688, is completely special. First off, determining whether the mobile phone can be considered a clamshell or candybar is somewhat of a problem, seeing as there are several opinions on this matter.

The mobile phone only features one display which serves the role of both an internal and an external display.

On the front side it features a numeric keypad that has a similar design to the RAZR's, therefore when you'll see the phone from the front, it will pretty much resemble a candybar shaped Motorola phone. This is why it can probably be described best as a 'clam-bar' phone.

Leaving the description aside, as you can pretty much see what the phone looks like from the photo, the handset comes with a 2.6 inch 256k color touchscreen display with a 240 x 320 pixel (QVGA) resolution, a 1.3 megapixel camera and an integrated media player with support for MP3, MP4 and several other file formats.

Other features include a torch light, handwriting input, and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion. According to the product page, the mobile phone features only 1MB of internal memory, which is why in the case of this phone you will definitely need to get a memory card if you want to store your music.

The Bai Zhao 688 will last up for around 89-120 minutes of talk time or 100-130 hours on standby and measures 98 X 52 X 17 mm. It is available for purchase for $140, here, where you will find several other interesting Chinese look-a-like phones up for sale at very affordable prices.
