On Monday, Sinecure Industries announced the release of a new mobile game for iPhone and iPod touch devices, namely Backlash 1.0. According to the company, the software solution comes as a steampunk inspired physics-based puzzle game, requiring for users to flick a ball to a goal. However, there are a series of environmental hazards that will bounce the player around, speed the ball up or slow it down.

The game developer also notes that, at later levels, the environmental hazards will “blow you entirely across the screen.” Not to mention that all these will happen while the player is tracked down by a “vigilant internal security force,” which “will hone in on you if you bounce one too many times.” One thing that is certain here is that the game sounds pretty challenging.

The features list of the new solution for iPhone and iPod touch includes: - 40 Unique Levels - Challenge Mode with cumulative scoring - Free Play - Realistic ball physics - Unique steampunk environment.

Backlash comes with a great puzzle gameplay in a unique environment, challenging players to find the best path to the goal, “some of which heavily involve the use of the unique environmental hazards.” According to the company, “fans of realistic physics will enjoy what the ball is put through as you guide it deeper and deeper in a giant, working machine to find a way out.”

Players who are not too fond of puzzles will be able to play in Free Mode, where there is no bounce limit, and where they will enjoy unique level design. Backlash is compatible with iPhone OS 3.0 or later and requires 13.4 MB of memory. The new game can be purchased from the App Store for only $0.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies).
