Asus keeps expanding its notebook portfolio with new models on a regular basis, so European users have now yet another 15.6-inch laptop from which to choose from in the form of the Asus X53SC which just made its debut in France.

The notebook is part of the Taiwanese company's multimedia series and comes packed with Asus' own Palm Proof, Power4Gear and IceCool technologies that are designed to increase comfort when using the X53SC.

Under the hood, users will be greeted by a standard voltage 2.2GHz Intel Core i3-2330M processor which can be paired with as much as 8GB of system memory (4GB in the standard configuration).

Various hard drive options are available, ranging in size from 320GB to 640GB, the basic configuration coming with a 5,400RPM HDD.

As far as graphics is concerned, outside of the integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU, Asus has decided to also include in its creation an Nvidia's GeForce GT 530M discrete GPU which is paired together with 1GB of GDDR3 video memory and features support of the Nvidia Optimus technology.

The rest of the specifications list is pretty much standard for this type of notebook design, with features ranging from a built-in 0.3MP webcam and HDMI output to optional Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

A rather interesting addition is the support for USB 3.0, and Asus has also added a DVD burner to the X53SC for those users that still rely on optical drives for storage.

All of these components are housed inside an elegant chassis with a milky white finish that will most certainly turn a few heads around.

In Europe, Laptop Spirit reports that the Asus X53SC is available with prices starting at 475 EUR (about $653 US), which makes it one of the cheapest Sandy Bridge-powered notebooks around and a decent buy as long as the 1366x768 resolution panel isn't that much of a problem for you.
