A new Asus Eee PC netbook model has recently become available for pre-order on Amazon Germany, the new 1015BX being one of the first laptop designs to be powered by AMD's recently launched C-60 low-power APU.

The C-60 was released by AMD a little more than a month ago and slightly improves on the specs of the C-50 is meant to replace by adding support for AMD's Turbo Core technology, which is implemented for both the two CPU cores as well as for the built-in GPU.

By using this new technology, the C-60 can raise its CPU operating frequency from the base 1GHz to 1.33GHz, while the graphics core is able to increase its speed to 400MHz from the stock 267MHz.

Outside of the new APU, the rest of the Asus netbook is pretty bland and doesn't seem to differ to much from all the other Eee PC models that Taiwanese company has released until now.

This means that users get the usual 10-inch LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 1024x600, a low-res 0.3MP camera, wireless LAN and optional Bluetooth connectivity, as well as up to 7.5 hours of battery life with the 6-cell power pack.

The AMD accelerated processing unit can be paired together with a maximum of 2GB of system memory, and the storage options include a series of 2.5-inch hard drives with capacities ranging from 250GB to 500GB.

As far as the available connectors are concerned, the Eee PC 1015BX packs two USB 2.0 ports, a multi-format card reader as well as VGA and HDMI display outputs.

Asus does however offer its customers the option of swapping one of the two USB 2.0 ports with an USB 3.0 port.

The release date of the Eee PC 1015BX is not yet known, but Amazon Germany has already made the Asus netbook available for pre-order starting at 206 Euros (about $277 US). (via Liliputing)
