Asus finally launches its P750 smartphone, after the handset was announced in July 2007 and should have been released two months ago. The device is really a high-end one and is said to be a threat to HTC Kaiser, as it packs similar features and is targeted for the same category of consumers.

Asus P750 is 3.5G enabled and has a SiRF III GPS receiver, which will make many users consider it an appealing handset. It works on GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800 and GSM1900 and comes in a candybar form. Although it doesn't provide a full QWERTY keypad it has an impressive numeric one and a cool 5-way navigation joystick. Measuring 112 x 56 x 17 millimeters and weighing 145 grams, the smartphone packs a powerful 520 Mhz XScale processor (120 Mhz more than the HTC Kaiser one) and, unfortunately, only 64 MB of RAM, although back in July 128 MB was announced.

The phone runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional and has a 2.8 inch TFT display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. The included camera is a nice one, coming with 3.2 Megapixels, Autofocus, Built-in Flash, mobile light (LED) and Macro Mode. It can take pictures at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at most and record videos in 3GPP or MPEG4 formats at 320 x 240 pixels and 15 frames per second. A VGA camera is also packed, above the display, to enable video calls.

Asus P750 also offers Bluetooth 2.0 and USB connectivity as well as EDGE, HSDPA (hence providing data transfer speeds of up to 3.6 Mb/s) and UMTS (850 / 1900 / 2100). Other features include FM Radio, Wi-Fi, 256 MB built-in memory and expansion slot (with support for microSD, microSDHC, TransFlash and SDIO).

Available for the moment only in Asia, Asus P750 should come next year to US and Europe too, for a price comparable to HTC Kaiser's.
