Ready your hidden blade

Assassin's Creed was one of the most hyped up titles of 2007, as it promised to reveal a historical world, during the time of the Crusades, in which the player would be an assassin that had to carry out their missions through the shadows.

It introduced a lot of new mechanics to games, but sadly, became very repetitive after a while. Now, as the sequel to the game has already been announced, rumors are emerging regarding where the title will have its action placed and, more importantly, when.

We've already reported about the statement that a game tester made, according to which the game would be placed in Venice, during the Renaissance and that the main character, Altair, would be replaced with another Assassin, but Ubisoft has decided to start a teasing campaign of its own and has launched this website.

The site currently hosts a teaser video, which contains sketches similar to those made by Leonardo da Vinci, one of the greatest personalities of the Renaissance. The main point of interest is an altered version of his Vitruvian Man, who has in one of his hands a hidden blade weapon, like the one worn by Altair in the first game. This confirms the setting of the game to be in Italy during said period, just like the game tester revealed a few weeks ago. There is also a link to an Animus-like device, which, sadly, doesn't contain any more details for the time being.

The website ends with a crest similar to the one in the first game, and a backwards type inscribing, just like Da Vinci used to make all of his notes, which, read carefully, says, “Game Informer 04.16.09,” hinting that more details will be made available in the next issue of the magazine. Maybe more details will be revealed in the following days, so stay tuned to Softpedia.
