Wow! Talk about 16 bit arcade games making a comeback! Just yesterday I wrote about three classics making a comeback on the Wii as downloadable content via Virtual Console and one on the PS2 (Metal Slug Anthologies). Now this just came out: SNK announces Art of Fighting Anthology for the PS2. Screenshots, a logo and hi-res art are available for download from the MMPR ftp site.

Art of Fighting is a trilogy of competitive fighting game titles that were released for the NEO-GEO platform in the early 1990s. It was the second fighting game franchise created by SNK, following the Fatal Fury series and is set in the same fictional universe. The original Art of Fighting was released in 1992, followed by two sequels: Art of Fighting 2 in 1994 and The Path of the Warrior: Art of Fighting 3 in 1996. No sequel has been produced since the third game yet The King of Fighters series produced some of the old characters.

Ben Herman, president of SNK PLAYMORE USA CORPORATION stated: "Art of Fighting Anthology is a comprehensive collection featuring the entire ART OF FIGHTING trilogy. A total of 33 classic SNK characters are included, each with their own fighting styles and unique moves. "With both Art of Fighting Anthology and Fatal Fury: Battle Archives Volume 1 making their first North American appearances on PlayStation2 system this will be a memorable summer for SNK fans."

Here's a little something to remember of the good old arcade days. Scroll down to watch and remember: Art of Fighting Anthology will be available for the PlayStation2 in May 2007.
