Canadian underwater housing manufacturer Aquatica has just announced the release of a new housing (A1D-C/X) that can accommodate Canon's still and video flagship cameras, the EOS 1D C and EOS 1D X.

The A1D-C/X is the first underwater housing available on the market for the aforementioned Canon cameras and it's built to offer quick access to all the camera controls, giving you the possibility to shoot in the most demanding underwater environments.

Aquatica uses anodized 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum to build all its housings, to ensure your gear is safe at all times. Moreover, the housing is painted with a coat of resistant polyester electrostatic powder that gives it enhanced protection.

The custom-made A1D-C/X is also optimized for videographers, allowing you to easily reach and operate the controls of your camera while keeping the broadcast quality at its best (1D-C: 4K cinematic quality video, and 1D-X: 1920 x 1080 HD video capture).

The video record on/off control lever is cleverly placed on the housing, enabling you to operate it with a flick of your thumb, while the quick release tray makes it easy to insert or remove the camera from the housing by using a simple push tab.

When it comes to the lens gearing system, Aquatica A1D-C/X allows the diver to have a smooth action while zooming, thanks to the new system with smaller housing pinion gear and larger lens gear.

To make sure your camera is protected at all times, the A1D-C/X case features an integrated atmospheric pressure-sensitive circuitry that, along with a leak alarm, will keep your camera safe or alert you whenever a leak is detected.

In addition to that, the case allows you to submerge your camera to a depth of up to 130m / 425ft. Aquatica A1D-C/X is now available for purchase at a price of $4,599.95 / €3,400.
