New downloads are available from Apple this week, including a fresh Mavericks beta for developers, updated versions of iMovie and Xcode for the general population, and a rare FaceTime update for customers still using the 2009 version of the Mac operating system.

On April 9, developers were greeted by a new test build of Mavericks. Labeled as OS X 10.9.3 build 13D38, the beta arrives with the same focus areas as the betas before it, including Graphics Drivers, Audio, Mail, Safari, and Contacts & Calendar sync over USB in iTunes. Developers who haven’t yet grabbed the software can do so at the Mac Dev Center or by using the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility.

On April 10, a new version of iMovie was deployed in the Mac App Store featuring several enhancements, including an option to sort events in the sidebar by date, the ability to double-click a transition in the timeline to adjust its duration, options to crop and rotate clips in events, speed effects using the Adjustments Bar, fixed issues, and general usability improvements.

On the same day, Apple launched Xcode 5.1.1 with bug fixes and improved reliability of Quick Look within the debugger, among other things noted in the changelog.

Finally, on April 11, Snow Leopard users were handed an updated version of the standalone FaceTime app. Apple says, “This update resolves connection issues in FaceTime, and is recommended for all users of FaceTime on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.”
