iWork.com is an Apple-developed web-based service that lets you securely share your iWork ’09 files with anyone. An updated FAQ of the beta is now available on Apple’s Support area, where the company outlines some of the particularities surrounding the service. The knowledge base article (ID: HT4041) was last modified on March 16th, 2010.

“iWork.com makes it easy to share your work online with anyone you want,” Apple says. “With this web-based, public beta service, you can share iWork files in a way that’s simple, smart, and secure,” the Mac maker explains. Users don’t need to know whether their colleagues use a Mac or a PC, so they can publish their work and invite others to view it without ever leaving the iWork environment. By clicking the iWork.com button in the toolbar, a document, spreadsheet, or presentation can be uploaded instantly, while a unique URL is sent to each invited viewer.

On this particular topic, Apple explains via the updated FAQ that users can send documents to iWork.com without inviting others to view them. “To send a document to iWork.com without inviting others, just leave the ‘To’ field blank during the Publish process,” the company outlines. If you choose that you want people to view what you’ve uploaded, they will see your document, spreadsheet, or presentation just as you designed it, complete with layout, fonts, colors, graphics, and photos, according to Apple.

Questions like, “What does iWork.com cost?,” “How do I report abuse on iWork.com?,” and “What web browsers work best with iWork.com?” are also answered in the respective document. Addressing the last one in particular, Apple claims that, “Using the latest version of Safari provides publishers and invited viewers with the best experience on iWork.com.” Currently, the service supports Safari 3.1 or higher for Mac and Windows, as well as Firefox 3 or higher, Internet Explorer 7 or higher, and Mobile Safari 2 or higher for iPhone.
