Following the official unveiling of new Windows Phone 7 devices, Microsoft also put in place some new services for developers of mobile applications for the platform, including the launch of a new developer website, called App Hub.

The new portal was put in place for all Windows Phone and Xbox LIVE Indie Games developers, offering a wide range of tools and resources for them, Microsoft's Todd Brix announced via post on the Windows phone 7 Developer Blog.

“App Hub is now the single place where Windows Phone and Xbox LIVE Indie Games developers can register; find development tools, support and resources; and submit and manage their apps for Windows Phone and Xbox LIVE,” Todd Brix states.

“Every Windows Phone 7 customer will get all of their apps and games from the Marketplace Hub on their phone and from the desktop Zune software,” he continues.

Microsoft has been hard at work with offering developers various resources aimed at ramping up the development of applications for the new mobile operating system, and the new App Hub is another step it takes in this direction.

According to Brix, app builders can take advantage of Windows Phone 7 design elements and capabilities such as Live Tiles, Hub integration, panoramic views, notifications, and the Bing map control so as to increase the visibility of their app.

The Windows Phone Blog is the place where Windows Phone 7 apps and games would be profiled, and one of the first app brought to display is Bejeweled LIVE, an Xbox LIVE title from PopCap Games.

“App Hub represents another step towards making it easier for developers to find the resources they need to build and distribute great apps and games for Windows Phone, Xbox 360, PC and the cloud,” Todd Brix notes.

“Over the coming months, we will be building up the Education Catalog on App Hub, so that it serves as the central location from which developers can find and access all Windows Phone and XNA developer educational materials from Microsoft.”

The new App Hub offers developers the possibility to have their solutions included both in the Windows Phone Marketplace and the Xbox LIVE Marketplace while paying only a $99 USD annual subscription.

For the time being, the app submission process for Windows Phone 7 developers is not ready, even if the App Hub was opened, but all developers should enjoy app submission through the new portal in November.
