AnyDATA announced the release of AWR-600, a WiFi router that offers broadband HSDPA access. Measuring 155 x 28 x 120 mm, the device features two antennas - one for the local WiFi network and one for the Wideband CDMA network.

The AWR-600 router offers a secure WiFi local network with data exchange rates of 54 Mbps using the WLAN 802.11 b/g standard. Instead of being limited to an Internet connection via a dedicated land-line that is often expensive and not readily available, the AWR-600 router takes advantage of mobility and broadband 3G speeds of the 90+ HSDPA networks commercially available via GSM carriers worldwide. Features of the AWR-600 include: support for 3G HSDPA Release 5 with data rates of up to 7.2 Mbps, backward compatibility with WCDMA, 802.11 b/g WiFi router with four RJ-45 ports, built-in DHCP server which supports up to 253 users, Web-based configuration and administration including firmware upgrade and diagnostics, advanced WiFi and Ethernet security features, four LED status indicators on the front panel.

"The beauty of the AWR-600 is the combination of security, simple configuration, and fast performance to provide an instant WiFi hotspot," said Charles Napier, Vice-President of Marketing for AnyDATA. He added: "There are millions of retailers, restaurants, coffee shops, and other service businesses worldwide that can now take advantage of broadband 3G networks to provide high speed Internet access to their customers. It is instantly available without the cost and hassle of installing as well as maintaining a landline Internet connection."

For wireless security, the AWR-600 features 64 bit or 128 bit WEP encryption as well as WPA-PSK authentication. LAN security features include a firewall, IP filtering, DMZ, NAT with DHCP, Denial of Service, and MAC clone. It also supports VPN pass through virtual server.
