About a month ago, mobile phone maker Motorola promised that it would deliver a new software update for the users of its high-end Motorola DROID, yet it seems that the solution is still not available for them, even if it was about be released for Verizon's users last week. However, the update might not be that far after all, as the company has recently announced that users of a Motorola Milestone in Hong Kong and Macau.

When it comes to what the new OS version brings to Milestone, we can count: - Live wallpaper support - Configurable multi home screen panels (up to 9 screens) - Voice Dialer app (English for HK) - Motorola Camera app - Facebook app - HelpCenter app - Quickoffice app (viewer only) - Moto Car Home app - Additional languages support (Dutch, Portuguese, Greek, Polish, Turkish)

Motorola Milestone users who live in Hong Kong and Macau can get the new software update on their handsets in two ways, Motorola states. They can either head over to the MOTO ServiceOne Center, where the company's service ambassador will help them upgrade the device, or they can visit the online MOTOUPDATE portal, available via this link, and connect the Milestone to a PC via the USB cable to perform the update process.

As one can easily see, the new features that the Android 2.1 brings to the Motorola Milestone are similar to those touted by Verizon Wireless for the DROID last week. Unfortunately, it seems that no exact details on when the update arrives on the US version of the device have emerged so far, even if Verizon said that test users had already received the software solution and that it would roll it out to all DRIOD users as planned. For what it's worth, Android 2.1 should arrive in the US in the very near future, especially since it is being deployed in other markets too, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
