Google's Android operating system is seen as the most open mobile platform available on the market at the moment. Moreover, it also started to prove that it can be one of the most appealing mobile solutions out there. Some people see it so opened and so appealing that they started to try porting it to mobile phones that came to the market with other platforms on board, including the Apple iPhone or the high-end HTC HD2, and now the HTC Touch Diamond 2.

While the idea of porting the Android operating system on handsets running under Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system is now a new one, it still seems impressive to see the way in which thing look following the port. The basic functions reportedly work pretty fast and nice, even if Android and Touch Diamond 2 were not meant to go along together.

According to a recent article on WMExperts, the Android operating system seems fully operational on Touch Diamond 2. The graphics seem a little sluggish, but all functions are operational, which is good enough. The results of these ports are said to depend a lot on the handset used, as well as on the network connectivity the phone comes with, and, it this particular case, things look promising. Those interested in learning a little more on how well HTC's Touch Diamond 2 and Google's Android 2.1 operating system go along together should have a look at the video embedded below.

As stated above, the HTC Touch Diamond 2 is not the first Windows Mobile-based handset to taste the Android OS. HTC HD2 enjoyed a working Android port only recently, and can be seen running Google's platform in the second video embedded below (via WMPoweruser). The hardware specs of HD2 are far more advanced than Touch Diamond2's, and making a comparison between the two mobile phones now that they have Android on board might prove interesting to some.
