Mobile phone maker Motorola has already started to roll out an update for its high-end Android-based Motorola MILESTONE handset. According to the company, European users of the device can now enjoy the Android 2.0.1 flavor of Google's operating system, yet it seems that the roll-out will be made at different moments in different countries. For the time being, it arrived in France and Italy, starting with January 18, and should soon land in Germany and the UK, as Motorola unveiled on its Facebook page.

The Android 2.0.1 update for this phone was announced before, but no launch date was unveiled until now, the company says: “because of the process involved which requires all software releases having to go through Motorola approval processes, and where applicable network testing, and finally Google approvals. This also means optimization by country as in each country slightly different feature stacks may exist based upon language support, software and content licenses. It is an extended process, which is why we are staggering the release of the 2.0.1 update starting with Italy and France, with the UK and Germany planned to follow shortly.”

At the same time, the company notes that the update “has been optimized and approved for European Milestone releases through approved Motorola vendors in Germany, UK, France and Italy.” Android 2.0.1 on Motorola MILESTONE is something that should enhance the experience this device can offer, though it might not be the same as the one offered by the Android 2.1 flavor of the OS. One way or the other, this latest release of Google's platform has also been revealed to arrive in the near future on the Motorola MILESTONE, so it's just a matter of time before the company announces it as officially available.

Those who would like to learn additional details on the roll-out of the new software solution for the Motorola MILESTONE should head over to Motorola Europe's Facebook page to see what they have to say on it. There they will also learn which Motorola partners around Europe have already approved the new update.
