Andrew Garfield, star of “The Social Network” and Peter Parker in the upcoming “Spider-Man” movie, is now a single man. Reports in the US glossies suggest that Andrew and his girlfriend Shannon Woodward have gone their separate ways.

The two have been dating ever since 2008, but according to sources close to them, their relationship fizzled in recent months, when their busy schedules got in the way.

The split was amicable and the two actors actually believe they still have good chances at getting back together later on, spies tell Us Magazine.

“The 27-year-old Social Network star has broken up with Raising Hope actress Shannon Woodward, his girlfriend since 2008, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm,” writes the mag.

Apparently, Andrew’s newfound fame and boost in popularity may have played a part in the breakup, in the sense that he’s been so busy that he hardly had any time left to be with Shannon.

“One insider explains that the British actor and Woodward, 26, became estranged as he ‘got deeper into filming The Amazing Spider-Man; he literally never saw her’,” Us writes.

Therefore, the split simply happened, but Shannon still believes they will be together again once his scheduled clears up.

“The insider adds that Woodward is ‘telling people they’re on a break... [but] they haven’t spoken to each other in weeks’,” Us further reports.

Ever since he shot to fame, Garfield has been keeping a very low profile, rarely talking about his personal life.

The one time that he did, he didn’t even touch on the topic of his girlfriend, sticking only to details about himself, such as how insulting for women he finds pick-up lines.

“You have all these automaton men going into bars saying the same lines, kind of half-insulting a girl in the hope they’re going to sleep with them,” he said back in February, as we also informed you at the time.

He also called the whole concept of the “dating game” “inappropriate and crass,” saying it killed all romance of dating.
