Despite the disastrous performance she put on just a couple of days ago at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, Amy Winehouse is reportedly ready to get back in the saddle and to make her amends to the many fans she let down with a series of summer concerts in the UK. Reports in the British media have it that the troubled singer has finally realized the time is just right to go straight again – and right back up on stage for her fans.

Currently still in St. Lucia, where she has been for many months in a row (with a brief interruption to fly to London to see to her affairs), Amy is reportedly looking to her health by taking up gymnastics and horse riding. However, changes in Winehouse’s life don’t include only the much-deserved attention on her health, but an attempt at making a comeback on the music scene as well, reports in the British media claim.

“She intends to play some summer festivals, particularly the V Festival because her manager runs it.” her spokesperson reportedly told the media the other day. Be that as it may, music oriented publications point out, this so-called “announcement” brings nothing new to the table in terms of Winehouse’s comeback, even if it might be interpreted as some sort of confirmation, since it reveals no dates and no specific details.

Moreover, critics say, given her terrible live performance in St. Lucia, when she was forced to walk off the stage because of the boos of the fans, apparently very intoxicated and clearly humiliated, it’s unlikely she’ll headline anything big until she gets her life back in order. This would mean, of course, going back to rehab for her alleged alcohol and substance abuse, and then embarking on a media tour to show the entire world that she is the same reliable artist she once was, just like her record label wanted her to do a while back.

Speaking of label, back in March this year, reports had it that Island Records was not happy with what Winehouse had already written and recorded, labeling the material too dark to ever sell, even with the most diehard fans. “She seems to have ditched her trademark vintage soul sound and is now heavily influenced by reggae. Her bosses don’t think it’s a wise move to change her style so sharply and have told her that. The lyrics are very dark indeed. While she’s known for her confessional style and has been very successful with it, many of the tracks are near the knuckle. Everyone understands that Amy is an artist and she must be true to her instincts. In the past, she’s written frequently about broken hearts and boyfriends, but this time round she’s delving into harrowing terrain.” an unnamed source was telling the media earlier this year.
