Tragic British singer Amy Winehouse died alone in her bed, her rep confirms for the media. She was found by the bodyguard who had been looking after her for many years. Moreover, a preliminary investigation indicates she hadn’t taken any drugs on Friday night.

Despite reports that, after having lunch with her mother on Friday, Amy went out and bought herself a cocktail of heavy drugs, preliminary tests indicate what police have already said: just because she was once addicted to drugs doesn’t mean she OD’ed.

Amy’s body was found by her bodyguard – word of her death broke online on Saturday afternoon. Her rep is confirming that she was alone in her bed when she died, E! Online notes.

“Amy was on her own at home apart from a security guard who we had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years,” Chris Goodman says.

“She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing. He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed,” Goodman adds.

At the same time, while the results of the autopsy are yet to be made public, a report suggests that no drugs were found in her apartment, the Daily Mail writes.

Instead, it is believed Amy, heartbroken after the split from film director Reg Traviss, drank herself to death.

“It has been claimed she had bought drugs the night before her death but a preliminary police investigation has shown no drug paraphernalia was found at Miss Winehouse’s £2.5million home,” the Mail writes, citing circulating reports in the British media.

“Police sources have indicated she died following a drink binge,” the report argues.

One theory is that Amy, whose health had been reason of concern for many years, was having seizures when consuming alcohol.

If so, this would contradict other reports saying she had seen her personal physician Friday night, who had performed a checkup and told her she was fine.

At the time ambulances arrived to Amy’s house, she’d been dead for hours.

The family has issued a statement, asking for privacy and time to deal with the loss of “wonderful Amy.” Millions of fans from around the world are equally heartbroken at the loss of one of the greatest voices of our generation.
