The United States Army (I bet no one thought they'd begin publishing videogames) are announcing that they have released to the public, free of charge as always, America's Army 3, claiming that it is the only videogame that manages to capture the real experience of Army life. The game is rated T for Teen and players who are interested in it can get it from Steam. The Army are promising that the game will be updated continually in order to make sure that gamers get access to all the new technology that the Army incorporate on the battlefield.

America's Army 3 has 15 missions, taking place in five different environments and put together so that they can emphasize that the military is very different from the way it is usually depicted in other videogames. The game fully simulates a wide array of weaponry while also showing players how the Army build an operation and how soldiers must use the Rules of Engagement in each situation.

Gamers can play a wide variety of roles and team cooperation is crucial to success in the engagements, which America's Army 3 offers. The new game also delivers a more detailed movement system and a damage system allowing body parts to be individually targeted and taken out.

It’s interesting that, immediately after the official release of the videogame, the studio which was responsible for its development was disbanded. The company was based in Emeryville, California, and Kotaku received information from former staffers detailing the closure and said that “a lot of good people [spent] insanely long hours on this game that was butchered by outside sources.” Apparently, all further development related to America's Army 3 will take place at another studio in Alabama.

Still, America's Army 3 is out, it's free to play and gives the full Army experience. Will players be interested in the experience or will they simply migrate to more simulation-minded games, like ArmA 2, or more arcade offerings, like Modern Warfare 2?
