Amanda Bynes was arrested for marijuana possession, evidence tampering, and reckless endangerment a short while ago but, according to her most recent tweet, she won’t be prosecuted due to lack of evidence.

The arrest, which took place inside her apartment in Manhattan, was subject to much speculation online, with the retired actress insisting on social media that she had been harassed and humiliated for absolutely no reason at all.

If there is any truth to her latest tweet, she’d been telling the truth all along.

“The DA and my lawyer talked today. They have no proof of drugs on me or around me at anytime during the arrest of after,” she writes.

However, though humiliated, she chooses to see the silver lining to this particular cloud.

“All I'm becoming is more famous! Thanks for lying about me!” she writes.

As we also noted on a previous occasion, after the arrest, Amanda took to Twitter that she’d been assaulted by the arresting officer – and framed by the NYPD.

She denied the accusation that she’d been smoking weed in the lobby of the apartment building – and then inside her flat, where she was arrested –, saying that she was clean of drugs and alcohol, and that she only smoked regular tobacco.

She also denied throwing a bong (or a vase, depending on who you believe) out the window of her flat when police officers came in, insisting that she was being set up by the police and the media.

At one point, Bynes even threatened to sue the NYPD for harassment (she claimed on Twitter that one of the police officers slapped her on a very private part of her body) but she had to stop talking about it after an internal investigation determined there had been no such inappropriate conduct.

As for Amanda’s next move now that she’s in the clear with the police on the drug charge, your guess is as good as ours.
