While Verizon customers who wanted a Treo 700p have already had the chance to get one by now, it is now time for Alltel Wireless subscribers to be able to do the same.

Like many other devices of this type, the Palm Treo 700p mainly targets the business users who want to be able to work even when away from the office and offers a series of features to help those users increase productivity including Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 ActiveSync support that offers synchronization of contacts, e-mail and calendar.

The handheld features a 240 x 240 pixel TFT screen, 128MB memory (60MB of dedicated user storage), an Intel XScale processor running at 312 MHz, Bluetooth for connectivity and 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.

The VoiceMemo application can be used to create custom recorded ringtones, add voice annotations to photos or record a memo. A custom ringtone can be set for each category of callers and the handheld also offers the possibility of responding to a call with a text message.

Other features include DataViz Documents To Go v. 8 for PDF, Word, Excel and Powerpoint files support, a QWERTY keyboard for more convenient document editing and message composing and the award-winning Blazer browser for a smarter and faster web browsing experience.

Compared to the Windows Mobile powered Palm Treo 700wx, the 700p runs the familiar Palm OS platform, version 5.4.9. The handheld can also be used as a wireless modem via USB or Bluetooth enabling users to take advantage of EvDO speeds on their laptops.

Now that the Treo 700p is available at Alltel Wireless, customers can get one for $349.99 after a $100 rebate provided they go for a two-year service agreement or already have qualifying rate plans.
