Alcatel, the well-known handset manufacturer, has announced that it has reached an agreement with O2 UK for its entire lineup of new handsets.

The carrier has started retailing Alcatel's new mobile phones lineup including One Touch 355 QWERTY and One Touch 708.

Both new devices are affordable handsets that should be available in O2 stores nationwide as well as online starting this week.

The carrier has also stated that it would soon start offering some of the manufacturer's Android smartphones, including Alcatel's new flagship device, the One Touch 990.

Alcatel One Touch 355 is a QWERTY bar handset which has been showcased for the first time during the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

However, the phone features a very small 1.8-inch display with 65k colors support and 160 x 128 pixels resolution.

The One Touch 355 can be labeled as an entry level mobile phone with limited features and very low price.

With only 700 KB of internal memory, users won't be able to store too much data. Fortunately, a microSD card slot (up to 4 GB) for memory expansion is included. The phone also packs a very poor VGA camera and FM radio.

David Johnson, O2 UK head of commercial and product management said, “We’re really happy to be selling Alcatel One Touch phones in our stores and online. Their mix of affordability and great design is something that we think our customers will really value.”

Alcatel One Touch 708 comes with a 2.4-inch touchscreen display with 262K colors support and 240 x 320 pixels resolution. Other interesting features include: a 1.3-megapixel camera, 5 MB of internal memory, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 4GB) and FM radio with RDS.

The touch feature-phone is powered by a Li-Ion 750 mAh battery which is rated for up to 350 hours of standby time or up to 8 hours of talk time.
