Adrien Brody on upcoming “Predators”: it’s “epic” and “outrageous”

Not many fans of the original movie believed Robert Rodriguez had what it took to bring back “Predator” and even introduce it to new audiences. Even less fans thought Adrien Brody, regardless of how talented he was, was able to carry such a physical role. According to Brody himself, speaking in an interview with Collider, skeptics will be pleasantly surprised when the film comes out at the beginning of next month.

Brody is currently starring in “Splice,” a thriller about a science experiment gone really bad that is getting mostly nice words from the critics. Collider caught up with him and, instead of having him talk about his latest film, chose to swim against the current and see what it could get from him as regarded the upcoming release. In Brody’s own words, fans will not regret seeing “Predators,” but quite on the contrary.

As director Nimrod Antal was also saying earlier this year, “Predators” will stay true to the atmosphere in the original film, but also bring an extra note of gloominess and somber atmosphere, Brody explains. The texture and the feel of the movie are different from those in other horror flicks, but this happens without “Predators” losing anything from its scary factor. In other, fewer words, this film is not only “epic,” but also downright “outrageous.”

“While all of us have to wait until July 9 to see director Nimrod Antal’s take on the franchise, Brody told me he’s seen the film and calls it ‘[expletive]ing epic.’ [Brody] says he has seen Predators and calls it outrageous. Also says it’s going to be scary. [He] calls the texture and atmosphere ‘[expletive]ing epic.’ Also says as he was watching it, ‘I love this [expletive] movie and I can’t believe I’m in it’,” Collider writes after speaking to the actor.

The trailer and footage released from “Predators” so far would certainly seem to confirm what Brody is saying, especially when he says it in such a convincing tone.
