Adobe has issued a warning to Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Solaris and Android users about an important vulnerability that has been discovered recently.

The security hole has been identified in Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.16 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 10.3.185.22 and earlier versions for Android.

According to Adobe, the vulnerability could be used to take actions on a user's behalf on any website or webmail provider, if the user visits a malicious website.

Furthermore, it seems that the vulnerability is already used by third-parties in attacks with the purpose of tricking the user into clicking a malicious link delivered in an email message.

To avoid being the target of this security hole, it is recommended that Android users update to the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.23 version.

To make sure that the latest version of the Flash is already installed on an Android device, simply go to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / Adobe Flash Player 10.x.

Given the fact that Adobe categorizes this vulnerability as important, it is strongly recommended to update their installations to the newest versions.

The Adobe Severity Rating System is a guideline to help our developers assess the security impact of known software vulnerabilities. Because vulnerabilities do not impact all users in the same way, we designed our rating system to help customers decide which patches and updates they should apply or how rapidly they need to take action.”

Adobe's 'Important' rating tag in the severity ranking system for a vulnerability means that it can be exploited to compromise user's data security and potentially allow access to confidential data.

It can also compromise processing resources in a user's computer or Android device.

Users that have not been automatically notified about the release of the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.3.185.22 for Android can manually update the application via the Android Market.
