It suffered irreparable harm

In a move that will make a lot of people quite resentful to it, Activision has decided to make a complaint against Double Fine Studios and Electronic Arts over the upcoming Brutal Legend action adventure game. According to the complaint, it seems that after giving Double Fine 15 million dollars in order to complete Brutal Legend, the studio missed a critical milestone and then decided to ask for 7 more million dollars and a nine-month extension of the development process in order to finish the game.

What Activision seems to have forgotten is the fact that when it merged with Vivendi last year, it dropped Brutal Legend, alongside other projects like the Ghostbusters one, for not having sequel potential, like its Guitar Hero or Call of Duty franchises, which see new iterations on a yearly or even more often basis.

As Electronic Arts decided to help Double Fine and publish the game, Activision has now expressed the fact that it has suffered “irreparable harm” in losing the game and aims at calling the two companies to court in order to get its money back.

The large corporation expressed its unhappiness with the game being handled by EA and hyped up as a very interesting title to gamers all around the world a few months ago, but the latter responded that those complaints would be like “a husband abandoning his family and then suing after his wife meets a better looking guy.”

The witty remarks don't stop, as famous game designer Tim Schafer, who is the mastermind behind Brutal Legend, declared, after seeing this legal complaint, “ Hey, if Activision liked it, then they should have put a ring on it. Oh great, now Beyoncé is going to sue me too.”

But if this complaint reaches court, nothing is certain about the fate of the game, which might not make its estimated release date in October, or Rocktober as it has been hyped up. We will keep you posted on how things develop regarding this situation.
