Regardless of how much fervor people put in debunking the rumors of the post-PC era, PC sales have been dropping, enough to account for less than half of RAM memory sales for the first time in history.

When asked whether or not Acer would try to compensate for poor PC sales by making smartphones, Acer founder Stan Shih reportedly answered with a no.

Previous attempts at that yielded nothing, and Acer admits it does not have what it needs to compete in that market.

Instead, the company will do all it can to persuade existing customers to move to Microsoft's Windows 8 OS. Shih even commented on the reports, however unsubstantiated (or not), that Windows 8 would have bugs at the time of release.

Acer believes that it is normal for an OS to have a few bugs and stated that, in its current form, Windows 8 was more stable than Apple's iOS6 was on iPhone 5.
