It looks like Acer decided to continue to support Microsoft' mobile platform, Windows Phone. Rumor has it that the company plans to launch at least one device with the upcoming version of the operating system.

We have just learned via Acer Club that Microsoft is likely to announce Windows Phone 8 Apollo in October, though the information has yet to be confirmed.

The said Acer smartphone based on Apollo platform would be released by the end of the year. The phone is said to be positioned in the low-end category, but it will be equipped with a dual-core processor.

Aside from that, we also heard the device will be called Acer W11 and that it will be among the first Windows Phone 8 Apollo devices launched on the market. Last but not least, Acer W11 will come with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
