Acer is getting ready for the 2012 edition of the Olympic Games, which will be held in London this summer, with the unveiling of a special edition Iconia Tab A510 tablet specially designed for this event.

The Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Games edition, as this will be called, has the usual Acer logo accompanied by the five Olympic circles and will be available in black or silver, according to SlashGear.

Moving past its new look, the tablet sports the same specs as the vanilla Iconia Tab A510 meaning that it is powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC (system-on-a-chip) device.

In the A510, the fast Nvidia chipset is paired with 1GB of RAM memory and can sport either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage space.

On the sides of the tablet, Acer has placed pretty much all the ports and connectors that one might need, including a micro-USB port, a microSD slot, and a mini-HDMI output for connecting an external display or HDTV to the Iconia Tab A510.

Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi are also included, but so far we don’t know if Acer’s Iconia Tab A510 Olympic Games edition will also feature 3G support.

Acer’s tablet is also equipped with dual cameras, the front one featuring a 2MP resolution sensor, while the rear snapper can capture images at 5MP resolution, as well as Full HD videos.

All of these, including the 10.1-inch screen with a 1280x800 resolution, are powered by a 9800mAh battery pack that Acer says can deliver up to 15 hours of battery life.

As far as the software is concerned, the regular Android 4.0 UI will be joined by a series of Acer apps, such as the company’s proprietary Ring interface, the Acer Print software for wireless printing and the Clear-fi technology for multimedia content sharing.

No details regarding the price of the tablet have been revealed so far, but this Special Edition Iconia Tab A510 is expected to arrive by the end of this month.
