Following the appointment of a new CEO, Acer is changing its basic composition

A while ago, Acer pretty much dropped the CEO position entirely, at least until a new one is found, something that caused concerns among ODMs. Now, the company is changing something else.

More specifically, Acer has decided to fuse together its personal computing and Research 7 Development divisions.

The new team would be led by current Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Jackson Lin.

This move would supposedly strengthen the R&D division and attract R&D talent from outside. It would fit Acer's previous plans to focus on value over quantity.

This, at least, is what certain “sources” from the supply chain say.

Plans will be confirmed by the time Acer holds its supply chain conference on January 21, 2014. Acer hasn't actually said anything on the matter though. Nothing conclusive anyway.
