Even though Intel still dominates the worldwide market of processors, Acer decided to offer a new desktop PC equipped with primary hardware from Advanced Micro Devices.

Acer is definitely in no way done with the global PC market, even though its overall business direction has changed.

For those that do not remember, the company, some time ago, decided to start placing less emphasis on shipment volumes and more focus into value.

This change in policy came along with some shifts in management and the choice to start diverting more resources into tablet research.

Even so, however, the company is in no way out of the PC market, as proven by the Aspire Predator, a new desktop that online stores have already set up for order.

This particular desktop is, in fact, quite different from most that were made public over the past few months, through the simple fact that it is not based on one of Intel's chips.

Instead, some of AMD's high-end processors are available as options, hexacore Phenom II units to be more precise.

The listing above has the Phenom II X6 1035T, which has a base core clock speed of 2.6 GHz, although the Turbo Core dynamic overclocking technology can take things higher.

That said, while 4 GB of RAM (random access memory) are offered, the maximum is of 8 GB.

Additionally, Acer put in the possibility of having one, two or three HDDs, for a maximum of 6 TB storage, via three 2 TB models.

Other specifications worthy of mention, besides the existence of an AMD or NVIDIA graphics card (GeForce GTX 460 1GB in the above case) include a multi-card reader, a DVD or Blu-ray drive, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0 (optional).

End-users interested in buying this particular machine will have to be ready to part with 650 Euro or more.
